Fire Danger Rating: High effective 6/14/2019
The Fire Danger rating is now at a HIGH level.
High Fire Danger Rating is effective 6/14/19 at 12:01 A.M. Permit burning and rule burning is not allowed. Campfires are allowed in approved, designated campgrounds only. Fireworks, incendiary devices such as exploding targets, sky lanterns, or tracer ammunition are illegal on all DNR Protected Lands.
Definition of a “HIGH” rating: Wildfires are likely. Fires in heavy, continuous fuel, such as mature grassland, weed fields, and forest litter, will be difficult to control under windy conditions. Control through direct attack may be difficult but possible, and mop up will be required.
This means that the shooting range on Hwy 291 in Stonelodge and other areas on State land will be closed until the rating moves below High.
